Hole left after removal of overflow pipe
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi I have a hole in my soffit where the overflow pipe was after removal of the water tanks when getting gas fitted. I've noticed a blackbird now going into the hole obviously building a nest. Would this hole be going right through into my attic?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Sandra,
Yes as it would've originally been connected to the tank in the loft.
Your bigger worry should actually be the wasps getting in and making a hive, particularly given the warm season.
Hope this helps

Hi Sandra
I agree with the previous answer, because it can be difficult to fill the hole that’s left once the overflow pipe is removed
we normally cut the overflow pipe as short as we can then cap it off to stop anything entering the loft.
That way it does not spoil the appearance of the soffit.
Hope this helps. Steve
