Fixing 2 x 2 timber to rafters
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
I need to increase the rafter depth by 50mm so I can place 100mm insulation between the rafters. The rafters are 100x50mm. Can someone advise what size screws to fix 50 x 50 timber to underside of rafters to build it out. 12.5mm Plasterboard will be screwed to the 50x50 timber. Was thinking a 75mm screw would suffice.

Definitely 100mm screws at 400mm centres (apart)
Then 38mm or 42mm for the plasterboard at 300mm centres (apart)
Good luck
