Can I plumb my washing machine to my boiler?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
I have a glow worm flexicom 18sx boiler and was wondering whether it was compatible to connect my washing machine to it as I have a small flat and looking at my options? I have tried to have a look to see whether there are any outlets on it, but I’m unsure if they look different compared to the ones under a kitchen sink. Just wanted to make sure if it can be done or not, my help would be appreciated

You can not plumb it straight to boiler,
However it can be plumbed to hot water pipe ( must be checked in dishwasher user manual)
Thank you

Hello, that boiler is a system boiler, not a combi.
Most modern appliances only require a cold water supply as they heat by electricity. This would mean a cold mains pipe needs to be run and a washing machine valve on it for the washing machine to connect to.
The washing machine drain pipe needs to go into a suitable waste pipe. This needs to be done in a way that satisfies the washing machine's instruction manual and the boiler's instruction manual with regards to the boiler's condensate pipe.
Get a Plumber or heating engineer who is also Gas Safe registered to quote to connect it. They will know what's allowed and what isn't.
All the best.

Most washing machines these days connect only to the cold water and would be therefore connected to the cold supply, usually under the kitchen sink. But, if you’re not sure what you’re doing, you need to have a plumber connect it for you or you could easily have a flood to deal with.

Technically yes you can, But you would not be connecting to the boiler per se but to the mains water.
