Stump Killer, how long to keep treated stumps fenced off?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM

Should I cordon off any stumps that I have treated with killer? I am killing off a few stumps on my front garden and would ideally like to make sure kids/pets will be safe around them. If I should keep them cordoned off how long is best to wait before I remove the cordon? Appreciate this might be a daft question but I can't find anything online and thought best to be safe rather than sorry...

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Ideally you want to use eco plugs. There completely contained an no need to fence anything off

Get your local tree surgeon to drill in some "eco plugs" it will kill the stump and be totally safe for kids and pets.

Depends on what your using to kill the stumps but it's always better to be safe than sorry so I'd say keep it enclosed a day or two after the recommendation on the packaging hope this helps

I always recommend salt to clients. Normal table salt poured over the open wound of a felled tree, reapply every few weeks for a month and remove any regrowth that does appear. Very safe compared with modern and artificial weed/stump killers and no need to fence off the area!
