Roof Lift Loft Conversion

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM

We’re looking into buying a bungalow with a view to converting the loft into three bedrooms and a bathroom. The main space is 6m x 9m, with a second gable section 2m x4m, that comes off in an L shape. The roof is too low and would need to be lifted. We would put in two small dormer windows and three veluxes. The stairs would go into part of the kitchen downstairs. Other bungalows on the street have been converted to dormers/two story houses, so we don’t think planning would be an issue. My questions are; Would we need to move out for the duration of the project, or a part of it? What would be a reasonable estimate for how long this kind of project would take? Huge thanks in advance!

Without even looking at the plans I’d say you can stay there with careful planning. It would be good to canopy the entire bungalow. Duration 4 months. Adam.
