No space for toilet SVP?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM
What can I do if I am not able have an SVP for my toilet because of where the toilet is located in the building, do I have another option that I could use to vent the pipe? If an aav or durgo can be used but it will not prevent back pressure that can push foul smells through traps and seals then why are they even used if they cause issues?

aav or durgo valve will not vent soil pipe but will let air in to stop syphonage of traps and seals, it will not prevent back pressure that can push foul smells through traps and seals.they are used where you can not vent the pipework to prevent syphonage of traps ,back pressure can be caused by incorrect invert level at base of soil pipe partial blockages of soil or drain pipework, basely the are used to get over poor design or poor plumbing, if you cant vent to air there is no other solution ,over than moving your wc to a place where you can vent it.
