Can I rebuild my removed chimney breasts?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

I have bought a house and the ground floor chimney breasts have been removed at some point and only the stack, first floor and loft remain. It doesn’t seem to have proper supports in place, so I was wondering can they be rebuilt to add support? Would want them to be working fireplaces but just a decorative feature and add the needed support. The concrete slabs are still on ground floor so could you just rebuild a chimney breasts on top of these? Is this possible or is an RSJ the only way to support?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes. Assuming original ones have been removed/ supported properly structurally, they can be constructed "aesthetically " which potentially will/ could be much cheaper as will not require more extensive work. Thanks Dave
