Shower mixer taps

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

Hi, I want to install a shower mixer tap to my bath (currently single taps) and want to know if this is possible as I have a water tank (on the same floor as the bathroom) but also have a boiler which controls the temperature, I think. Will installing a shower mixer affect the pressure? Thank you

A gravity fed system will not give you enough water pressure to run a shower, You could run an electric shower usin g a mains cold or will need to have a pump fitted ideally run a mixer shower from a combination boiler

Electric shower is your best bet.

It is unclear if the storage tank that is referred to is hot or cold, if we are assuming this is a gravity feed system and it is a cold water storage tank at the same level you do have an option to have a pump negative/positive depending on the height of the tank, this can be a better option to an electric shower as you will need a cable taken from the fuse board all the way to the shower, which if we are taking about a loft conversion then that might be more expensive

You need to fit a whole house pump to pump all hot water outlets. This needs to be a negative head single impeller pump with a suitable flange for air-free hot water takeoff. Fit a shower valve or a bath shower mixer capable of handling mains cold inlet and pumped hot inlet. Grohe valves are excellent for this. This arrangement will deliver a vastly better showering experience than any electric shower.
