Landlord gave me a date to purchase land but then puts land on auction

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

Is it legal for a landlord to offer me the property then he puts it on auction when I'm in the middle of dealing with conveyencing and legal paperwork to get the funds ready?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I am unsure of details you had with owner ref purchase however unless you had a written agreement in place to purchase by said date owner is still owner! You may get property/land at a lower price than you put forward if goes auction! Appreciate you may have paid out already for surveys etc so you sound like you already know more than others that you may be bidding against at auction! Sorry can’t give you a legal answer however GOOD LUCK if you choose to bid My guess is you prob get better deal Good luck sir Dave

Hi, Unfortunately with any purchase of land or property, there is no legal bind until signed contracts are exchanged. If your landlord has pulled out after exchange of contracts but before completion, please seek legal advice. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Nick
