Bathroom tiles and Varnish

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

I'm having porcelain tiles in the shower area of the bathroom, I've been advised by the plumber that they need to have a varnish coat on them to make them easier to clean and for the colour to stay longer. The shop where I got the tiles from, says its not necessary. Who should I believe and Is that true? And if so, what can I use for the varnish. Please advise

Perhaps the plumber meant Grout sealer? But a correct grout for bathrooms should do the job. Porcelain tiles do not require varnishing at all!!

If you have polished porcelain tiles then use a penetrating sealer. This will stop any dirt or residue from collecting in the pores of the tiles. If they are unpolished, they don't need it.

Yes polished porcelain tiles do require sealing. This is because the surface of the porcelain tile has microscopic holes in it.

You do not need to grease the tiles atall grout dose the job and depending on the type of tile you chose it can have a glaze shine or a ruff texture or just matt
