Dark brown floor surface

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

I ripped the carpet up in my rented property. Which I was allowed to do as I have a dust allergy. My plan was to lay laminate but the tradesman has been really unwell. I got a property inspection via video call where the inspector notice a dark brown shiny surface around a lot of the living room floor edge. And then the rest of it looked new off yellow beige colour Matt finish. She’s suggesting and noted on my tenancy I have damaged the floor, I know I haven’t. My old house had this darker floor all over so I’m assuming it’s what they used to level the floor back when the houses were built. Can anyone help? I don’t want to lose my tenancy over it. Thank you

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, sounds like marley tiles (Not seen so not 100%) One colour around the edge and another in the middle. These were standard back in the 60's - 80's as the builders flooring then you put carpet on top if you wanted to. Hope this helps.

Hi. You might already have your question answered, but personality I would be very cautious in answering without physically seeing your flooring, as this has to do with your health. Observing something over the pictures or video, I would not make any suggestions as you stated it affects your health. All the very best.
