Hairline crack on the wall

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

Hi I’ve got a hairline crack on the wall which I’ve dug out and filled with easifill, sanded and painted over but once it’s all dried the area where the crack was is raised! Where am I going wrong???

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello John! After filling the crack it sometimes requires a thin layer of filler on top of everything which is then also sanded and painted. Forever Home.

Hi John, would be best to caulk before filling as the caulk gives movability, after aplying the caulk let dry and then apply easy fill on top , hope this help. Goncalves Handyman

It sounds like you haven’t rubbed it down enough. A 80 grade Quality Sandpaper should make the task easier.

needs to be filled sanded and then refilled and sanded again to allowing for shrinkage once the filler dries out

You haven't pushed enough filler into the crack. It's best to rake out the crack in a V shape and thoroughly fill the crack. Once dried this will shrink back a bit, so re fill after rubbing down. Once dry and sanded it's ready to paint.
