Should my new roof be raised slightly on one side?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

Hello, We are currently having a new roof put on our house. This appears to be raised/bow on one of the adjoining corners. I've posted the project managers response below. Is this normal/is this answer satisfactory? Images: Zoomed in: https://ibb.co/DQLwGf0 View from other side of the road: https://ibb.co/SyQQJDT "The roof is usually always higher at the sides as that’s where the wall is and most of the time dips in the middle. But also it’s a bit higher now as we’ve put a secret valley in under your slates and neighbours tiles, there was one there before but wasn’t done properly so we’ve renewed it. Also with the slates being flat it probably makes it more noticeable." I originally asked the question as a friend pointed out this may affect our Velux window in the future. Thank you

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Although it dosnt look the best of jobs they are correct in what they say bonding gutters do kick slates up a bit there is a way to get them sitting flatter but it's more work what you have there will not cause you any problems and is quite normal

To get the slates to sit flat you would have to recess the bonding gutter into the battens .it won't leak as it Is now but from an appearance point of view it could be altered yes .

The roof can kick a small bit on the break between the two houses but not to this extent, when the roof/bonding gutter was done the partition wall should have been chipped down to the level of the roof joist this then prevents the hump between the roofs
