Plastering & Rendering

blown plaster due to next door's woodburner

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.57 PM

We had our upstairs hallway (in our Victorian semi) replastered in 2004 but the neighbours installed a woodburner their side and the heat from this has blown all the plaster and the whole wall has now cracked. It doesn't help that we live near a railway which has also caused cracks in newly plastered walls in the rest of the house How can this be repaired? If it's replastered no doubt the same thing will happen again, or is there a special plaster that can be used? Maybe I could paper over the cracks? Any helpful suggestions welcome, before I hunt for someone to fix this problem.

You could remove the plaster and dryline the wall. This should do it.

Heat resistant plaster… “VITCAS” being the most popular one… Horrible to work with though.
