Attaching plasterboards straight on to tiled wall

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM

I have had a door bricked up in my kitchen (breezeblocks) and a wall at the side which is tiled. Can I attach plasterboards straight on to the breezeblocks and straight on to the tiled wall aswell? Or would I have to remove the tiles first? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can attach plasterboard straight on to breeze blocks with suitable adhesive. I would not recommend plasterboard over tiles. I would remove tiles and plasterboard over the wall beneath. Tiles do not offer good adhesion for the boards

If you use a blue grit prime on the tiles then you can dot and dab straight onto the tiles so they don't have to be removed

Me personally I would take tiles off because you don’t know how well they are fixed. If you were to take a gamble then I would put a good coat of blue grit on tiles and then stick boards
