Light switch buzzing and bulb flickering

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM

Our old halogen lightbulb went the other day in our 2nd bedroom ceiling light. As they are no longer sold we bought the LED bulb, in fact we bought two with different wattages. When we put either of these bulbs in as soon as you turn it on, the bulb flickers and there is a buzzing sound coming from the switch. We still have an old halogen bulb which is in our main bedroom and when I put that into the 2nd bedroom there is no flickering or buzzing sound. Any ideas what is going on with the LED bulbs and suggestions? (The switch is not a dimmer switch)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Probably a transformer still in circuit. This needs removing. Needs doing and checking by an electrician.

Are you sure it is not a dimmer switch? Classic symptoms is flickering bulb and buzzing switch when non-dimmable LED lamps are installed.

Yes the driver I’m maybe the problem , the buzzing at the switch tends to happen if there is a dimmer switch which is not compatible with the LEDs , failing that there maybe a loose connection at the switch witch I causing an ark , it would need investigated .
