How wide does side access need to be to fit the required machinery through for rear extension?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM
I'm in the process of purchasing a detached property which has side access either side. There is enough to comfortably walk down each side but I'm doubtful there would be enough room though to fit the required machinery required to build a single story extension to the rear of the property. How much width is required to fit the necessary equipment through to the rear? I'm looking to understand what machinery is typically required for a single story rear extension.

the width of a micro digger is about 700mm and will fit through a standard doorway you can also hire power barrows of a similar width. Sizes of any plant should be readily available from your local plant hire provider.

Hi John, nowadays they have all sorts of machinery to do these jobs, a micro digger can squeeze down to 710mm, and a powered barrow 750, these will fit in most places, but just walk down with a tape first

Depends on what size machinery you are having and what size opening you have. Neither of which seem to be available.

Hi if you go on any hirebase machinery sites , they always give you all specifications, sizes etc, and if you phone up , there more than happy to have a conversation, and forward to you any sizes of machinery you want to hire and more importantly price.
