Does rodding a drain and cleaning a drain mean the same thing?

Simply put, "rodding" the drain means trying to clear debris that cause blockages. Cleaning drain means flushing any remaining debris through so a blockage can't reoccur.

You can try to “clean” some of non accessible parts of waste pipes with chemicals, on bathtubs for example but for heavily blocked drainage you want to use rods.

Rodding a drain is simply using a set of rods to try and move a blockage , its not really ideal as any drainage engineer will be able to jet it for you for a competitive price and this will also clean and flush debris from the pipe as apposed to paying a plumber or handyman to turn up with nothing more than a set of rods and poke it loose then you suffer the same blockage again shortly later as its just moved the issue or fixed it temporarily, plus a plumber can spend hours with a set of rods trying to unblock a tough blockage, time you'll be billed at where as a good drainage guy will have it sorted in less than an hour , better to get in an expert and get a fixed price first just be careful as some of the bigger companies charge hidden costs where as many smaller ones will do a fixed price unblock

When you rodding a drain it’s mean you use plumbing equipment sewer rod

Rodding a sewage pipe you are just pushing the blockage for cleaning you are best with jetting equipment.
