New Patio paving

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

I have a area of roughly 7.5m x 2.5m which I'm going to pave, currently it's half decking and have slabs. I'm going to get it all up, mark out the area, put plastic sheeting down to stop weeds coming through then lay down hard-core and hire a plate to crush and level it all out, lay sand down and smooth that out and then lay slabs. I know its not as easy as it just sounds but am I missing anything? Do I just put slabs on sand or cement corners to set them?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Pavers are on a sand bed 50mm thick, while slabs are on semi dry mortar mix

Hi I would recommend using Terram rather than plastic sheet, when laying the slabs we always lay on a solid cement and sand wet mix that way they bed in nice (no loose slabs ) All the best

Hi I would use a permeable membrane in place of plastic sheeting to prevent weed growth,I would use type 1 stone as a foundation preferably MOT,and lay the paving on a sharp sand/cement wet mix at a depth of 50mm,make sure you put a run off on your patio preferably away from the property and include some drainage(aco/French) Thanks
