Electrical

Light on 4 way system worked when fitted but stopped working soon after.

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

Last weekend I fitted a new light fitting on our staircase ceiling, the wiring looked quite complicated (4 way), so I photographed it before removing old fitting and used this as a guide to wiring the new one. When I put the new light up it worked perfectly, tried all 3 switches no problems. I then put up a ceiling light in a bedroom nearby, this too worked ok but when I tried the staircase light again it didn't work. I took the bedroom one down again but the staircase one still didn't work checked where I'd wired it and everything looked fine. I always get an electrician in if its anything complicated but over the years I've replaced quite a few light fittings. Would appreciate any help, thanks.

It’s the bedroom light that’s affected the rest. I suggest getting an electrician in.

It would appear that you may have invertedly terminated the wrong conductor into the incorrect terminal, I would suggest contacting a local electrician who should be able to sort out your problem

You really need an electrician, someone who knows what they’re doing and qualified to do so.
