Plastering & Rendering

What’s type of plasterboard should I use in my bath room?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

In bathrooms I recommend using the moisture resistant boards (green boards) they are meant for bath rooms and wet areas 👍🏻

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

MR or moisture resistant boards (green coloured plasterboard) are for wet areas. However there are some points to keep in mind. As they're moisture resistant, special measures need to be taken in order for them to accept a skim finish. So if the idea is to use them in an area that will be painted and not tiled, there's no real advantage over using standard boards ( e.g. on a bathroom ceiling) in fact it would be better to use a standard board there. They are ideal for behind an area that may be tiled or covered in wet wall or similar panels. Still good to tape and fill the joints with joint filler before commencing with finished surfaces, especially tiling.

Green board is supposed to be used in bathrooms. I always recommend this. Even if only painting as you may change your mind at a later date as to what you want to do after I have boarded and skimmed it.
