Mould and cracked resin as not preparation work not done correctly

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

I had a resin drive laid on my front drive, done in July 2019. It took a man and his son about 2 hours to do and cost £3000. I was not told anything about any preparations or procedure of the work involved, and my drive looked beautiful when finished. During the last 19 months the resin has lifted, and is cracked in numerous places, where the paving slabs underneath are. There is mould and grass growing in several areas. There is actually several areas where there are holes, with no resin at all. I did contact the workman, but then it was covid when faults started appearing, so hence I have had no response. I had 9ft x 6ft high double wooden gates installed at the front of my drive a few months after the resin job, and am I now so pleased I did! I am so ashamed of my drive and keep the gates closed as much as I can, so people do not see my nightmare of a drive. I have had covid in the household for the past few months, so nave been unable to contact anyone concerning having my drive re-done but, recently I have had several quotes for block paving. Each person I have quotes from, have despaired at the sight of my drive and each have also said, that the work the workman did with my drive is 'criminal'! I hired the workman from 'My Builder' and gave brilliant feedback, obviously too soon! Is there anything I can do to seek compensation for the terrible work that has been done to my drive, please? I would most appreciate any advice concerning this issue, please.

Unfortunately I don't think you would be getting anything of the "man" who done it,as you should have asked before for a contract where is stipulated the warranty. Next time try and avoid private person if they are not recommended thru friends or family . Also in your case he should have laid a tarmac base then the resin at top.

So sorry for the terrible work but if he has liability insurance cover, you could put a claim provided you have his contact details and if my builder could get his details it would be helpful

No not a good idea all the old drive should have been out with new sub base back in place before any other work was done
