I want to extend my kitchen into part of my garage...
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM
I want to extend my kitchen into my garage by about 8 feet. There is already a kitchen door that goes into the garage that I want to remove. I already have a door from this part of the garage that goes external.... I need to lift the floor by 3 " and sort whether it needs to be a studded or brick patrician wall. Looking for a builder and advice on what regulations I will need if any...?

You will need a change of use and building control inspection

You will need regulations, fire, ventilation, structural etc, also it's always a good idea to involve the local authority as this provides protection for both parties

Hi Paul,
Yes your floor will need to be raised because it will need to be insulated. You will definitely need building regs because it will need ro be signed off on your deeds at the end of the job. In response to brick or stud where exactly are you referring to?

Partition wall needs to be fire rated
You can either do it in masonry wall insulated or stud wall with fire proof plasterboard
Building control will advise you on either options. As long it is fire proof.
