Electrical

I need help with a couple of exam questions😂😂

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

Hello, I am studying electrical installation and need help answering this question. I know it's stupid to ask on here but I need it urgently. If the length of run for the cooker circuit( incorporating integral socket outlet) is 15m with an ambient temperature of 25 degrees, determine the following showing all calculations: a) the minimum cable size to be installed( utilise diversity factors and assume that the circuit is not grouped with any other circuits) b) whether the voltage drop is acceptable Please help me and give me all the working out to these questions.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A bit of ohms law needed here. The bits you are missing are 1. Voltage 2. Amps or KW Without these it’s impossible to calculate the size of cable required.

In order to assist the other two electricians who have 'helped' you it is an exam question so you can make reasonable assumptions in your calculations. It is a cooker circuit so it is reasonable to design for a 32A circuit and make up your own cooker rating. Say 7kW. Work out the load as 10A plus 5A for your socket plus 30% of the remaining load. You look in the Regs book at table 4D5A flat PVC cables for the cable size (6mm T&E) and then do your volt drop calc. Simples.
