Socked in kitchen changed, now one socket in living room isn’t working.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

Had to change the socket in the kitchen due to the switch being jammed in place. I had 3 of each Live, Neutral and Earth to connect into each terminal. Was a little fiddly with my sausage fingers, my only guess is that one of the wires is loose in the kitchen side socket and affecting the living room circuit? I can easily fix that if so. Would it be safe to leave overnight and reconnect it all tomorrow? No matter what I’m doing the wires keep popping out of the terminal whenever I screw the sockets back onto the wall. Getting a bit fed up of it. If I tape up the wires (separated) I assume I’ll be ok to have another go tomorrow before I lose my patience with it all

Sounds like connections wernt tight enough, I would recommend tightening now as it will only take 5 mins.

Just use a 30 amp terminal block and connect all respective wires (reds, blacks and earths together)while you revisit to try again next day. That way you maintain ring connection and the living room.

Maybe either the live or the neutral have popped out the terminal. Wouldn't leave it to long as if arcing occurs this could cause a fire.
