Curtain poles to a new house

I am buying a new house which doesn't have curtains etc fitted, and ai would like to have curtain pole fitted. How do work out the depth from the ceiling to put them or whats the knack

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, I would normally put the rail brackets 3-5inches above window height and the side brackets would be at least 3inches out from the edge of the window. Have 1 curtain ring on the outsides of the brackets to keep the curtains from moving towards the middle...Good luck, Nick

Hi, Using the window frame I normally go 10cm out and 10cm up. keeps nice and even.
