New roof installed with UPVC fascia

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.03 PM

Hi so I've had a new roof installed with new fascia boards at the gable end but when looking at it on the one side they seem to be all wavy & not straight. Thanks for the replies. The old part of this which was straight was wooden fascia with uPVC capped to it the wood & capped upvc had been took down & replaced with a more thicker uPVC fascia. Shame you can't add an image on here to see.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi . Usually when installing new upvc fascias they should be fitted onto a 6x1 tanalised timber. It sounds like this hasn't been done on your property . To rectify this you will need to take the fascias off and start the whole process again.

Hi Chris , there are 2 types of upvc fascias. 1 is called capit or over-clad this normally comes in 8-9mm thick and is installed over and fixed to the original/existing fascias. The other is called replacement fascia. It comes18-20mm thick and is fixed directly to the timber rafters and the original/existing fascias should be removed. Without taking a look I would guess they have installed the 8mm capit and not cleaned the existing fascias properly removing and protruding nails and the like or they have installed 8mm capit instead of replacement this can cause it to look wavey. Hope this helps 🙏

Should use a replacement board and not Capp it as better and easier to get it straight
