Hi ,
Difficult to advise without seeing the damage. But I’ll give you some ideas to try out.
It depends on the depth of the scratches and the existing finish.
Light scratches into the finish lacquer or polish, rather than the timber surface.
You can try a simple wax polish that can be hand applied.
If you best colour match, this may do the trick.
If the scratches are deeper into the surface, then you may need to sand the finish back and then the scratch.
Be careful, as a solid table will allow you to sand the surface back, veneer however will only allow light sanding.
Best to go slowly and may be test a inconspicuous section first.
Hope that helps,
Good luck

You may have 2 completely different surfaces, oak table (I suppose solid wood or veneer) and a TV table which is very probably veneered.
1. oak table (supposedly wood or veneer) - 2 options:
- light scratches not going through the varnish, can be buffed out or polished, many products on the market can help, including spray waxes (to hide the scratches more or less) etc. Most will not remove the scratches but will make the hair scratches less obvious. Another option, if the oak table is varnished in satin mat (not gloss!!), you can get away with a can of satin mat sealer in a DIY shop or from B&Q, and few light bursts/sprays over the surface may take the scratches of the eyes. Careful! No overspray.
- deep scratches are more difficult and unless you are willing to re-varnich the whole top (which I do not recommend if you are not experienced with) I would suggest you leave it as it, may be try the household spray wax to make them slightly less visible.
2. TV table (supposedly wood veneer or plastic veneer) - 2 options:
- Wood veneer (light scratches) - same options as above, can be buffed out or sprayed
- Wood veneer (deep scratches) - difficult to deal with, as above, only options to take of the eye.
- Plastic veneer (both light or deep scratches) - no other options that touch up with special marker pens. You can google these as “laminate floor touch up pen”, form £3 to £10 on Amazon, and lightly touch up thee surface, constantly wiping the excess. You will not remove the scratches but you will colour the groves so make them less obvious to eye.
Best luck
