7th Floor Flat with Condensing Boiler, hot water tank, AND a shower Pump
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.46 PM
So I've just bought a 7th floor 2 bathroom flat that has a mid 2000's "Gloworm Flexicon" condensing boiler, a very large hot water tank in the airing cupboard and a cold water feed tank room on the roof ( 8th floor) it's a vented system ..... thing is it also has a 2.0 bar shower pump in the small shower room ? all works fine as far as I can tell and I've been here 3 months now, some say this is absolutely fine, others say it shouldn't have a shower pump at all with a condenser boiler? does anyone truly know what is correct ? Thank you.

This is pretty normal to have a shower pump on a vented hot water cylinder. As the pressure is determined by the height of the header tank so therefore hot water pressure would be pretty poor due to the height of tank only being a few meters above the outlets. The shower pump has nothing to do with your condensing boiler unless its a combi boiler which it isnt as you stated you have a vented system with a hot water cylinder. Set up is perfectly fine.
