brown patch in the roof of sitting room

I have noticed a light brown patch on the roof of the sitting room underneath where the bathroom. it is a dry patch. Just got the house so not sure if it is new . I wonder if this is a leak. I will like to find out what this is and what help to get to fix it.

Hi, if it’s not expanding and is sry it’s from and old leak. You should use stain proof paint first.

Hi, if the stain is dry it will be from a previous leak , apply stain block and repaint. If the stain reappears, then something is still leaking ,if you can , check behind the bath panel for any obvious pipe leaks , if you cannot find the leak , contact a plumber

Draw a light pencil line around the mark. If mark grows, call a plumber.

Before you paint it you should check with your hand that the ceiling is dry then if so you can just check around the bathroom before you paint the ceiling
