Bathroom Fitting

Buying second fix of 7 bathrooms in a new built from UKBATHROOMS

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

Hi All I have been dealing with the sales representative of the online supplier and got to finalise quotes. I went then on trustpilot to find out what a high level of dissatisfaction they have for: damaged goods, redelivery, delay of delivery, returns, substitution of parts, late payment of returned items,... and what worst the lack of a customer care phone line. Since than I am pretty scare thinking all the multiplied cases where things could go wrong. The savings on the overall supply are significant and the ranges we have picked from are also widespread and likeable but I start thinking that not having a trade person that supports us will be a suicide. Your opinion? Any recommendation for farer second fix suppliers whit in reach from TW10 much appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You’ve basically answered your own questions buying cheap and having little or no after sales service will cost you more than what you save on products

As a showroom based business I can only advise that buying online is risky, but then I would say that, wouldn't I? As an explanation, if you are prepared to accept that things may go wrong and that the cost saving is worth it, then go for it and buy online. Buying from a physical showroom means you have a point of contact and a physical store to go to (and a person to complain to if necessary). Will you pay more, absolutely, the showroom isn't just 'shifting boxes', they are there to assist the purchase, provide advice, also try and ensure that you make the right choices to help prevent any mistakes and sometimes produce a plan of the room for you. In addition if a mistake is made they will do their best to rectify the error. The other area that the local showroom will help you with is after-sales, if any of the products have a bit missing (it does happen quite often) they will sort it out for you. Finally, online, are a bit of a fickle bunch and may only deal with one supplier for a while then drop them in favour of someone giving them a better deal. When you ring them because your tap with the 10 year manufacturers guarantee has started to shed chrome at 5 years they may not be able to help you because they don't deal with them any more. A local supplier tends to keep suppliers for longer and will usually be able to help as long as the supplier is still in business. All this personal service has a cost and that's why you'll pay more if buying locally. I can't help you with supply because I'm based in Staffordshire but Google 'bathroom suppliers near me' and you'll find one.

I have fiited bathrooms for 15 years and I can say 60-70% of the companies that supply goods and deliver have issues from missing items to damaged goods. I always say. Buy all good plenty ahead of time and check them all.
