Resin Bound Gravel - vehicles turning

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.27 PM

I am considering adding a small part of resin bound gravel to a large rear yard to break up the vastness of the SMA which will be laid. This will be to provide a contrasting surface which will also provide grip for elderly parent to get access to garage, plants, etc. My concern is that there will be a small amount of vehicle access onto this surface - where there is a high likelihood of the vehicle performing low speed turns. Is resin bound gravel able to withstand traffic turning on the surface and if not, what other options do I have for a contrast surface that will provide grip?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, Resin Bound is one of the strongest materials for a driveway. You shouldn't have an issue with vehicles as long as the build up of sub-base and substrate is suitable.

Hi, Resin bound gravel is very durable as a drive as long as the substrate is sound. So it should be fine for vehicles to drive on. Ideally a concrete base is used before the resin bound gravel is applied as the resin gravel is usually around 20mm thick.

Hello, Having been in the resin bound industry for many years I would suggest seeking advice on the aggregate to be used. There are many companies out there that will supply all aggregate types being suffice and this is not the case. If you require anymore advice then please do ask.
