What is a structural liner tray and what is the purpose of it?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.27 PM

Hi, I've seen a roof detail and the detail had something labelled 'structural liner tray' and it had insulation on it, what is a structural liner tray and what is the purpose of it, is it always needed on roofs?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I’ve only seen structural liner trays on large commercial properties with large roof surfaces and long wide guttering never on a domestic property for example a lot of metal sheeted roofs like Lidl, tescos Asda those kind of big stores

Structural liner trays are used on commercial properties in between outer and inner skins of roofs and walls to guide and hold sheet insulation firmly in place, whilst providing additional structural strength and maintaining a uniform cavity.
