Hot water suddenly not working. Could it be red hose issue?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM
We had some plumbing and boiler work (both separate engineers) done in the past few days and now suddenly our hot water isn’t working. We noticed that there is a red hose under the kitchen sink (this is where our water can be turned off and on) which has 2 connectors, but only one is connected. We cannot see where the second connector should be fitted or if it ever was. Can anyone advise if the red hose should be connected to another pipe and if this is what could be causing the lack of hot water? It would be very much appreciated.

Sadly no plumber will take the risk as the red hose could be any number of things without further inspection. Suggest you call a plumber of get your heating engineer out again. Sorry but it’s not as simple as saying plug the red hose back in as this could cause a whole different issue

At a guess I would say that the
“Red hose” is an old hot supply for an old washing machine as newer ones only require a cold supply. I would suggest you call the boiler engineer back.

I agree with what Partridge Green is saying & the red hose most likely nothing to do with your current issue, or at least it shouldn't be.
