No hot water. Radiators fine, hot tank cold

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM

Hi Our hot water suddenly stopped working (oil heating). The heating is fine, the radiators are still coming on but the hot water tank is cold. There's a pipe which goes into the side of the hot water tank which is roasting hot, however the tank remains cold. The pipe coming out of the top of the tank is also cold. Another pipe labelled 'hot' which goes up to the roofpsace is so cold to the point where condensation is forming on it. Any ideas on what could be wrong or how I could fix it? Cheers

Either the tank stat is faulty or motorised valve is not open, there is a small lever on the side to force valve open, if that works motor needs replacing

Is the boiler coming on with just hot water demand? If not then there will be a problem between timer, thermostat on the tank if present or motorised valve. If it does come on for a few minutes then off again then I would say some sort of blockage.

No circulation around the Hot Water Circuit. Motorised Valve, Return Balance Turned Off, If hot at the Motorised Valve does it independently come on and demand the Boiler if in Hot Water Only Mode? If Not, Motorised Valve. Just change the Synchro Motor. . . .
