Gassy, fishy smell coming from cupboard where boiler is
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.03 PM
Persistant gassy type smell in bedroom that also houses a boiler which is in its own cupboard. Have had this smell for many years and even paid out to change the boiler a few years ago and its still there. Have had hundreds of gas/co checks and nothing is ever found, we are at a dead end, not knowing what to do. The last check was literally a few days ago, the guy checked everything except under the floor as we didn't think at the time that it could be removed. We have since managed to lift part of the floor but can't tell if there is a leak under it, nothing looks obvious. If I leave open the bedroom door, the bedroom smells nicer but if its closed it ends up stinking. We noticed that it must be coming from the boiler area due to us leaving the bedroom door open for a while and then us opening up the boiler door after where the smell is prominent. We have pulled up the floor in there but can't find anything obvious. Checked the wiring to see if there is anything coming off that but found nothing. Two boilers in now, same issue?? It's a combi boiler, no immersion, all electrics seem fine. UPDATE: Thank you to all who took the time to reply. Finally a heating engineer came out and tightened a number of gas joints in the boiler and since then problem solved. Can't believe it wasn't picked up all this time but its now sorted.
