Remove electric immersion heater tank if I have a combi?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.03 PM

Hi. In 4 weeks i ll move to a flat i bought in London. There Is a combi boiler "remeha" on the wall in the kitchen. In a separate small room next to kitchen there is a big tank "kingspan ultrastee" and I think is a electric immersion heater. On the Rica survey it says that it is a "supplementary immersion heater". It's a small 2 bedroom flat. Can it be considered redundant? Can it be removed so that I can use that room as storage? How much would it cost? I have pictures if needed. Thanks Cris

A combi boiler is more than capable of supplying the demand for heating and hot water in a 2 bedroom flat however it may not necessarily mean that it was configured to feed all the outlets in the property e.g the cylinder may only feed the bathroom outlets. The best option would be to have a gas engineer/plumber test & trace the pipework back to see what it is feeding and then decide what you want to do from there.
