Water ingress with steel garage

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

I recently posted this question -We have a steel garage which has been built on a flat concrete plinth. It is sitting flush on the plinth with no base flashing. The plinth has not been put in with any slope to allow rain to run off so it pools, and then goes under the sides of the garage. I need to somehow find a way to get water to drain off the concrete plinth. I also need to find a way to attach flashing or something to prevent further water ingress.HOWEVER - in the meantime until we can afford to put in some kind of drainage is there a way I can seal the garage to prevent the water getting. I looked at Sikaflex 11FC, but the plinth and garage floor are wet and I dont think it will work. Is there anything I can use that will adhere even if the area is damp? The water is pooling badly now. Thanks for the responses - the area is now very wet and dirty. Will I need to get some one to power/jet wash it all and then try and apply sealant. Could I get away with just sealing the inside for now or is that a waste of money. And finally - do I need a special contractor to do this work?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Use a mastic called CT1. Its about £14 a tube but can be applied to wet surfaces. I would also install drainage as well. A French drain maybe.

Hi, if I could see some images of the problem I could probably give a better solution. But by the sounds of it from my understanding you’ll need a aco drain on your garage or some sort of mastic like ct1 as it pushes water and adheres to wet surfaces. Thanks jake reed.
