Electrical

Council notified but no EIC

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

Update: We have found they have been registered to the wrong postcode. So we will get updated. Is the building compliance certificate all I need or is something else required - EIC, Installation Cert? I need some help understanding how this works. We’ve had a lot of work done on our home and this included requiring building control. The final thing required was gas and electrical certs from the builder. While I was chasing these the council contacted me and said they had electronic notification of the certs through the self cert schemes. However when I look it up on NICEIC there is no record. How does this happen? Update: electrician is registered with NICEIC and the council notification also says NICEIC.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It could be the works have been completed by a company in another organisation like NAPIT rather than the NICEIC

Hi there! The electrician must send you an appropriate EIC along with Building Control Notification! Try to contact him and ask for relevant certification!

Afternoon the contractors used by the building company should have been registered with a Govt Scheme, example Gas Safe for Gas, NICEIC or Napit for Electrical works. Depending on what type of work was carried out, certain works have to be registered with building control. I would recommend contacting the contractor who undertook the work & ask them for your necessary documentation.

first if the person who did the work was register with NICEIC Approved. once on completion of the work has within 28 days to submit the work and also to building control all online and everything is online. if there is no record is because the electrician did notified anything and you can chase him if he will answer.

The builder should of sent you a email of the installation certificate when they notified buliding control of the completion of works. I would get in contact with the builders electrician who signed the job off to send you a copy of the certificate via pdf or paper copy.
