uPVC door problems

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

I had my uPVC front door installed in 2018. There are a few issues with it 1. The house shakes when it is closed. The old door didn't do this. Will I need a new lintel or is it a case something needs tightening/adjusting? 2. When the door is open it doesn't stay open it swings shut. Is it a case of adjusting the hinges? 3. When unlocking the door with the key and opening, it sounds like the door is catching somewhere. What's the fix for this? Sorry for the multiple questions but any help would be appreciated. ETA: sorry what does inwine mean? I had a feeling the door may need to be refitted as it's got so many problems. Thanks! Have called the company that installed the door. Just waiting to hear back from the owner. Company fobbed me off saying there's nothing wrong and the owner was more interested in inspecting the chain I had put on the door. What can I do now?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sorry read this again and realised it was 2018 install date now 2022 not just a fresh install. The issues you are dealing with Could easily make assumptions that years of door opening and closing things have maybe slightly moved due to poor workmanship and twisted but then they can perhaps argue in there defence that you’ve been banging the door excessively causing issues due to neglect. Its a tricky one but if he's been out and found no issue i guess your next step would be to get a 2nd opinion to help find your solution.

Sounds like the door isn't fitted 'true' . It would need the fixings relaxing and made square. You really need to allow the original installer to correct it, as getting someone else involved will invalidate any warranty you may have.

Door sash should not swim on it owns to me sounds like it’s not level the door and door fitting has nothing to do with your house shaking but it could a be a air vacuumed so when the door closes it’s not leaving air in or out where your old one may have been drafty and new one isn’t so feels like your house shaking when it’s just air moving around the house as door shuts
