Replacing a Potterton Kingfisher 2 RS80 boiler

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

My Potterton Kingfisher 2 RS80 boiler is celebrating it's 25 year anniversary this month. Serviced annually and still working well. The central heating pump failed recently and this has made me think that I should plan for the boiler replacement as spares are unlikely to be available. I want to replace like for like. I do not want to have to move my boiler into the loft, it works very well under a worktop in the kitchen. I do not want to have to pressurise my system as many of the new wall mounted boilers require as this may cause leaks. Would a Greenstar CDi FS Regular do the job or do you recommend another? NB: The flue on my existing boiler goes out of the back of the boiler and through an exterior wall.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes. With some alterations any Regular/Heat Only boiler will work. Things to be concerned about however would be 1. if the current boiler has a gravity feed for the Hot water cylinder. As the newer boiler will bleed to be fully pumped. 2. Can the condense be run. 3. Will the flue termination be ok. Karl Gatwick Heating and Plumbing
