What are the insulation benefits of a upvc door

Hi all, I have converted my garage into an office space with cellotex and rockwool for insulation. Finding it cold and drafty and I know I need to improve the seal around the main garage door. But I am also debating replacing the standard sized glazed door that I have at the rear. It is fairly old and there are some issues with the fit which I have used weather stripping to solve. What I am wondering is how much better insulation properties a upvc double glazed door would have? I have sourced one second hand meaning total cost of the door and installation would be £300. But my carpenter seems to think not really worth while pursuing as I wont be losing too much heat here? Thanks, Ed

Little benifit, look for a composite door, forget the glass.

A modern composite frame and door will have higher thermal value than a poor quality wooden door . The draft proofing and seals work really well in comparison to wood .

A composite door with a double glazed unit would definitely help solve your problem if it's fitted and sealed properly your old door is probably letting out a lot of heat because more than likely the glass in the door you've got has broken down and the argon gas between the glass unit has escaped

Sounds like the potential customer is saying the actual up and over garage door is drafty, I’d recommend leaving the back door in and replace actual garage door with French doors/ side frames glazed with solid flat panels as it will be draft proof.
