Plasterboard Fixings
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.27 PM
Hi, Just wanted fellow trades peoples opinions on what is their go to plasterboard fixing for heavy items where there is no stud and the customer doesn't want you to put in a nogging. I have looked at Grippit (ok for some tasks but not a fan for heavy items) Then I have used Geefix for heavy items such as Tv's. Toggles are also good but I find the Geefix helps spread the weight over a larger distance due to the large wing. Thanks,
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depending on what your planning to attach to a plasterboard wall you have a number of options, Fischer Duopower multi wall plugs, screw plugs, toggle plugs, gripit’s. All of which are good for plasterboard, depending on the weight of the item/s you’re mounting this will dictate what fixing to use. Look at the advertised strength of each of fixing above or if in doubt you could easily fit a batten to “A” stud or both if possible. Studs are generally at 400mm or 600mm spacings. You only really require to be anchored into one stud to distribute the weight of the item/s evenly.

I use Grip It anchors.
Really good for heavy use such as TV Mounting etc.

Fisher anchors, i use these for quite heavy rads and never a problem.
You do need the tool for them however
