Hi,
Normally inbuilt or integrated appliances are manufactured smaller so that a standard width cupboard will enclose them. In most cases, the outside measurement of the cupboard is 600mm. Most freestanding fridge-freezers will be 600mm, so won't fit, but you can find narrower ones if you look around.
Should you find one that fits within the cupboard, in my opinion, it should work as the unit was already built to ventilate an appliance of the same nature.
However, I would recommend that having chosen the appliance you would like, you take a look online for the user manual as that will specify the minimum distance to adjacent units, etc.
Hope this helps!
