Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.27 PM

I'm working on project which has an existing concrete column, do I need to fix fireline boards to the column so to make it fire protected? since it's concrete does need any kind of fire protection?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi , no concrete does not need to be fire protected as its non-combustible, it's non-toxic and it has low thermal conductivity, this makes concrete one of the safest and most effective materials for structural fire protection. However if there is any exposed steel then that will have to be fire protected. Thanks Matt Jmp building services

Concrete beams have a built-in fire resistance. The actual length of time depends upon the concrete cover to the rebar.
