Mains smoke alarms unknown trigger and a brief sparks

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hi I have 4 mains attached Deta smoke alarms installed in my house. Two weeks ago one went off in the middle of night without any warning. I had to reset all of them as they all were beeping. Couple of days ago we heard crackling spark noises come from the another one. What should be by next steps ? Is there a specific kind of electrician I should be looking for ? What is to be expected Ram

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like a loose connection of some sort. Just get an electrician in to give it the once over and rectify fault.

This sounds like possible loose termination. You should get a competent electrician out with no delay to inspect. Loose terminations cause fires!

Agreed definatly sounds like a loose connection, get an electrician ASAP, how old are the smoke alarms as they could have contamination inside causing the false alarms

It went off without any warning. Do they usually warn you before they go off? All smoke alarms should be changed when ten years old. How long have yours been in? Aico are the best. Any good electrician can check, service and change alarms.
