Can I run TWO gas wok domino burners from 1 gas supply?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hi, I recently repiped my house and now have a new 28 mm gas pipe to my boiler. My gas engineer has teed off a standard gas supply pipe from the new 28 mm gas pipe for my new gas hob, the question i have is that i want to have 2 very powerful 6-8 Kw gas domino wok burners installed side by side. I have attached the link below. The question is that can i tee off from the existing gas supply pipe for the new gas hob? In other words, can I run two separate 6 kw wok burners from a single gas hob supply pipe simultaneously? My boiler is a 36 Kw burner running off the new 28 mm gas pipe. Thanks. https://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com/uk/productlist/cooking-and-baking/hobs/domino-hobs/ER3A6AD70

The engineer would’ve done working pressure at the appliance and the meter the gas pipe calculations all depend on how many 90s / tees and length from the meter to the appliance should be 1 mbar drop for safe operations

You will need to go back to pipe sizing and recalculate the whole installation and pipe sections. it sounds like you have a 36kw boiler, two 8 kw domino wok hobs so totalling circa 52kw, around 4.7m3 required to the t point, you are not going to be able to get enough gas for the two hobs on a 15mm pipe if it is any length and /or incorporating many bends. This is back to design however there are limits to maximum gas volume in pipes so if you did need larger than 28 on the main run then the volume would also be a consideration. You need to required operating pressure at all test points with all equipment running. You must also consider that - assuming you have a 6m3 domestic meter the liklehood of you being able to install anything else such as a space heater in future may be limited

in theory for gas pipe calculation you need to find out gas rate and distance from meter to appliance, number of tee and elbow but in my experience 28mm in more than enough for 36kw boiler and two hobs .
