Plumbing

problems with 2 radiators and boilier

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 3.26 PM

my radiator in the kitchen isnt getting hot at all, even the pipes are cold. my childs bedroom is cold in the middle of the radiator. do you think the radiators are blocked? also been told i am damaging the boilier becuase i keep turning the heating on and off and been told i should leave the heating on all the time. we do not have a thermostat on the wall and our only way is to turn it off by the boilier. im worried my gas bill will increase if i leave it on all the time. wondering if i am able to fix the problem by myself without having to pay for someone to fix it

Hi, A good way to find out if this particular radiator is blocked, is to turn off the valves to the other radiators that are working. If that then pushes the heat to the non-working radiator, chances are, your heating system needs balancing. And this can be done by yourself with a little help from Google. If you don’t have a thermostat to control your heating, then continue to switch the boiler on and off as you are.

Hello, Please do not worry about turning off the boiler on the switch it will not make any difference or damage it. The radiator not been hot could be a few things. Firstly maybe a balancing issue which is something you can sort yourself. Secondly it could need a powerful which you will need an engineer to do. Hope you can get it sorted Gas MK One
