Paid but job not completed

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM

I paid for fencing but have not received my trellising on top of concrete base panels. He still has to move some of his tools and a few broken slabs all in his wheelbarrow. Having paid him over £1100 he told me to hold onto £50 o prove he is coming back but he hasn’t. All i am waiting for is the tops on my low fence and removal of a small amount of his stuff. This guy was found on Facebook so i dont know where he lives or trades from. I have his phone number and his wife/partner that he lives with, her car registration number. He has said since i first contacted him that i was going to report him to the tax office as he took cash in hand stating it would be cheaper for me. He said i was guilty of tax evasion just as much as he was. I have said its not for me to pay it, i was quoted a price which i have paid all barring the £50 he told me to hold back til work completed. He cant charge me tax after the fact surely its to late. You dont pay for a loaf of bread then told after you youve paid that you owe tax!!! I want him to remove hus junk and deliver the tops for my fence

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Karen, our advise would be same as R C Fencing + for future to avoid similar situation maximum you can pay for tradesman to start the work is 50% which is really rare most likely is to pay 10 - 25 % deposit which should be enough to cover the ' work start ' such as digging out or removing old fencing then additional deposit can be paid after first stage is completed and this system works well for both customer and a tradesman and never fail yet. hope you will solve this matter easy and all will be sorted in a good way. Best Wishes
