Boiler flue above carport

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM

I had a carport fitted, without thinking about boiler replacement. My gas flue is above the carport. The gas engineer does not have access to the flue, because of the carport. What solutions are there?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Unfortunately the best option is to probably pay for a scaffold to be erected

Depending on what roof is on the carport and how well the structure is you may be able to but some strong boards between the joists to work off if not the only other thing would be to get a scaffolding Regards B N Roffing

Gas engineers shouid carry ladders, depending on how high the roof is, because health andsafety keep moving the goalposts

Hi it all depends if the flue is coming out of the wall or roof ..if roof then access can be gained from another part of roof and walk over, if wall then depending on the integrity of the carport structure you could lay boards over or if they are plastic sheets then possible to remove a section and erect ladders, without seeing it it's quite difficult to provide a precise answer Kind regards Lee Avery Universal building

It depends on what materials was used for the carport eg ( corrigated sheeting) which could easily be taken off and put back on . Also is the carport structurally sound enough to have the weight of someone on it
